If you like arts and crafts you know that sometimes the most random things can become the best DIY project ever. You know how the saying goes – “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. You never know what useless thing might spark your imagination and urge you to create something truly incredible. And the best thing, as any seasoned DIY enthusiast will tell you, is that you really don’t need to spend a lot of money to create something beautiful or useful.

So let’s take a look at 8 things that you wouldn’t expect become amazing DIYs.

1. Button Trees
Most of us have a bunch of miscellaneous buttons laying around at the bottom of some drawer. Well did you know you can actually put them to use and make a beautiful decoration out of them? And you don’t even have to limit yourself to just buttons, if you have some old brooches, earrings or rings you can incorporate them too, for a vintage look.

2. Golden Honey Bear Vases
We can’t certify if the honey in those cute bear honey bottles is the best kind, if it’s organic and free range, etc. But what we can guarantee is that with very little time and effort those bottles make incredible golden honey bear vases.

3. Hot Glue Corals
Corals make beautiful house decorations and table centerpieces, but did you know that you don’t actually have to get real corals? You can create them yourself for a fraction of a price and no damage to the environment and all you really need is a hot glue gun.

4. Matchstick Stars
It’s hard to believe that people tend to buy these matchstick decorations for upwards of $20, when you can make them yourself for way less money and actually get some much needed alone time while you’re at it. Making these is really easy and it has a nice de-stressing and satisfying effect too. Unless you’re a child. Children should not play with matchsticks.

5. Globe-Stand Paper Towel Holder
Who knew an old globe could be useful in the kitchen, but it actually is. If you have an old globe lying around, and it’s all busted and you don’t know what to do with it – you can easily turn it into a very handy paper towel stand. Easy peasy.

6. Plastic Spoon Chandelier
Plastic spoons have more that one use. They don’t have to be just a one use utensil that you throw away and then spend ages thinking about how it’ll impact the environment, since they’re not really environmentally friendly. Of course – the best solution is to not buy these at all, but if you did – consider giving them a second chance and turning them into a rather impressive looking chandelier. If you hang it high enough, people won’t even be able to tell it’s made of spoons.

7. Succulent Shoe Planter
When you think about house plants, do you automatically assume they should be in pots? Cause we have a new idea for you. How about putting them into some outrageous shoes you really love the look of but you’re pretty sure you’re never going to wear. It’s a perfect solution for when you don’t want to throw away a pair of shoes, and when you’re in need of a plant pot and are too lazy to go buy one.

8. Teapot As A Flower Pot
Here’s another idea for people who love flowers – you don’t really need a vase to display flowers. You can always put them in a glass, a jar, a wine bottle or even a teapot. Think about it, these days we all use electric tea kettles, so the old fashioned teapots have become quite useless. So why not give them a new life as a flower pot?
