What are green notes?
In perfumery, green notes evoke the freshness and vitality of nature. Dame Nature is full of olfactory pleasures: the green notes suggest the fragrance of dew, fresh grass, forest, bamboo, the great landscapes, the oasis ... Present in many fragrances, both feminine and masculine, they arouse the creativity of perfumers. They give a touch of elegance, cheerfulness, dynamism and sometimes even gluttony. Green notes are obtained from absolute flowers, such as mimosa, lily and daffodil. They can also be derived from the violet leaf, the blackcurrant bud or the root of the galbanum. Besides the reconstitution of floral notes, the essence of galbanum gives the compositions a green, earthy and resinous note. The fruits, such as green apple, kiwi, green fig and pistachio, also bring green notes.

The olfactory families of the green notes
The familiar notes of floral fragrances, green notes are also present in the composition of chypres and woodlands. The green floral perfumes, from the family of green florals, are defined by a touch of freshness supplementing a flowery fragrance. Usually present in the composition of floral perfumes, galbanum is also used in chypre tones. In the creation of chypre fragrances, the green notes bring a lively freshness to the tenderness of these chords. Also, green notes are sometimes present in the composition of aromatic woodlands.

Perfumes with famous green notes
Created in 1947, the first green scent is "Green Wind" by Balmain. Galbanum is introduced in very large quantities, in order to propose a radically different fragrance, against the current of sweet, flowery and romantic perfumes. In turn, Dior proposes "Miss Dior", a green chypre fragrance. Galbanum is also the origin of floral perfumes, such as the "N ° 19" of Chanel and "Anaïs Anaïs" of Cacharel. Men's fragrances are often "green notes", such as "Boss Pure" by Hugo Boss and "Guerlain Homme" and Vetiver by Guerlain.
