The Nivea Cream is the work of a trio of shock. Dr. Isaac Lifschütz, chemist, inventor of an emulsifier, Eucerit, patented in 1902. Dr. Oscar Troplowitz, pharmacist, owner of the Beiersdorf laboratory. And finally, Professor Paul Gerson Unna, dermatologist and scientific advisor. From this exceptional ingredient, which stabilizes a mixture of water and oil, the three men develop the first moisturizing and nourishing cream for the face. Its immaculate color inspires its name: Nivea, from the Latin "nix, nivis", white as snow. First conditioned in a yellow pot, it was not until 1925 to see the mythical blue box appear.
Recipe
In 100 years, the formula has changed little. Besides the famous Eucerit, it contains glycerin and panthenol, moisturizers perfectly tolerated by the skin. Without preservatives, this water-in-oil emulsion prevents the proliferation of bacteria and germs, water droplets being trapped in the oily phase. Finally, its inimitable perfume is its signature: scents of bergamot, orange, pink, lilac and lily of the valley.
