The Golden Globes are a week away and that brings up a lot of emotions for us. We’re very happy about everyone who got nominated. How could we not be? Carol, a lesbian drama, is leading with 5 Golden Globe nominations. It’s Christmas all over again. We’re also excited to find out who the winners will be. Some people, however, are anxious about the host.

It’s happening, people! After 3 years of absence from the Golden Globes, Ricky Gervais is back! And it looks like he’s going to have a blast at the show. Ricky already tweeted his apologies in advance. “Because I can see the future, I’d like to apologise now for the things I said at next week’s Golden Globes. I was drunk & didn’t give a *uck”, – he said on Twitter.

He might’ve sworn off hosting the Golden Globes before, but hey, never say never. After agreeing to host the Golden Globes again, Gervais explained why he changed his mind on his blog: “You may have heard I’m going to host the Golden Globe Awards again. I’m pretty sure it was reported in the press last week. I said no when they first approached me, since I’m just too busy, but they made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. I don’t mean they threatened to kill me. I just mean they were very persuasive, very charming and very generous. I’m quite looking forward to it now though. I’ve got myself into that “I never want to do it again so I’ve got nothing to lose” state of mind. I hope some people enjoy it as much as I intend to”.

He hosted the Golden Globes 3 years in a row from 2010 to 2012. During his time as a host, he got drunk on stage and offended a fair share of Hollywood, but Ricky doesn’t care. He had fun, and he was hired to make fun of people. So for all intents and purposes, the man did his job well. “How will he top last year’s Golden Globes?” and “How can he make it even more offensive?” – were the running jokes during his years of hosting the Golden Globes. It looks like we’re going to be getting the answers to those questions soon and we bet it’s going to be hilarious!
