When you have FLOTUS duties, being a style icon might seem frivolous, but its pretty high on the list. And Michelle Obama has not taken that duty lightly. She’s managed to stay elegant and stylish while pushing fashion boundaries and making bold decisions, the whole time that she’s been in the public eyes. Welcome to her most absolutely ravishing evening looks that we’d hate for you to miss out on.

Pulling off full-length, white evening gowns is not an easy feat, but the ever stunning Michele Obama managed to pull off the look with ease, matching her gorgeous, crystal-studded Tom Ford gown with a criss-cross neckline to die for. The bow on the waist manages to be elegant instead of annoyingly cutesy, and the all-white look is pulled together flawlessly with pendant earrings and an understated clutch.

The First Lady wore this Peter Soronen look to a dinner with the Mexican president, and the deep blue hue is vibrant and regal, fit for a queen like the one wearing it! The dress sparkled like the night sky, dotted with silver, but the single shoulder adds a contemporary twist that we love. A chic but slightly glam, thick belt pulls the look together wonderfully.

Michelle Obama’s black, off-the-shoulder look is just flawless here. And that chunk of bling keeps reminding us to focus on how beautiful the tailoring is. We don’t know if this counts as an LBD, because it’s a gown, but we would like to redefine the term. The dress fits her like a second skin, and the resulting off-the-shoulder and waistline effect is magnificent. She wore this look to meet the queen – fitting, since she looks like one in this dress.

This billowing look by Caroline Herrera is a little more fairytale friendly than we’re used to seeing on FLOTUS, but we’re glad for the whimsical change of direction – the color choice is light but still elegant and toned down by the sheer black beaded overlay with an unusual scalloped collar. That ballroom silhouette was sure to wow, and she must have looked like a badass walking down a spiral staircase.

Shoulderless is clearly Michelle’s style, and why wouldn’t it be, with shoulders and arms like that? The drape on this custom emerald chiffon Marchesa look is impeccable, and it flows with such ease on her body. The ruching and draping along the collar and waistline compliment the free-flowing nature of rest of the dress. The look isn’t gussied up with too much jewelry – the beauty is in the gown.

Michelle won us over with this nude Givenchy look at the White House Correspondants’ Dinner. They say that Kim Kardashian pulls off neutrals and Givenchy like no other, but we’d have to disagree. The gold masterpiece was embellished, with a sexier nude slip piece, complete with stunning beaded detail, and a longer, most modest high-necked cape that cascades over her body like a dream.

This fiery red Alexander McQueen number was worn to meet the Chinese president, and it might just be our favorite look on this list. Very red carpet ready. We can see everyone from A-list celebrities to duchesses rocking this look, but FLOTUS pulls it off like no other. The abstract print is a unique smokey floral that makes her skin glow and is just the right amount of fearless.

This gold chainmail Atelier Versace gown is a pretty recent look from Michelle, and it’s diva-chic in the best way possible. The first lady isn’t usually as daring as she was in this dripping rose-gold look, and she looks like outright perfection in it. Apparently, the choice of chainmail was meant to represent female strength – armor, basically. Barack, you better count your blessings for having this woman by your side.

This Vera Wang look is another off-the-shoulder success from Mrs. Obama’s arsenal – this time, sheer chiffon sleeves and a sexy inverted triangle at the bra-line adds a unique twist. The silk organza bottom has the ideal amount of flouncy without being too flamboyant, and we love this take on the mermaid silhouette.

This mesmerizing, semi metallic number that Michelle rocked back in 2012 for the Democratic National Convention in North Carolina stands out, even though it’s not one of her dramatic gown looks. The red and gold brocade Tracy Reese style is reminiscent of a sunset and was a fittingly bold choice.
